Req No: 64083096-51179046-20080821111219 Position Number: 64083096 DESCRIPTION · This is work in a data processing environment in the Division of Disability Determinations. The position provides support for users of a statewide multifunction automated office system consisting of workstations with Microsoft Windows Desktop applications and minicomputers. The position falls under the general supervision of a Network Systems & Data Communications Analyst -- SES and requires the ability to work both under direct supervision and independently in carrying out the responsibility of the position. · Assists the Division of Disability Determinations and the Social Security Administration (SSA) in the analysis, planning and development necessary for integration of the statewide LAN//WAN/ Client Server system that communicates with SSA Network resources. · Administers Local Area Network systems servers, routers, switches and communications devices. This includes installation of configured and programming systems software and hardware. Administration of all WAN devices including DOH intranet and internet routers, Exchange, IIS and SQL servers, and all other enterprise devices. · Coordinates and/or participates in the activities necessary to provide comprehensive planning, implementation and support of Social Security Administration's (SSA) Intelligent Workstation/Local Area Network (IWS/LAN). · Diagnoses problems recognized in the Division of Disability Determinations and SSA's software, providing technical solutions and liaison necessary to resolve them. Designs, develops and implements specialized programs/routines necessary to implement and enhance system software. · Confers with SSA and DDD employees to determine information system requirements, define and propose solutions to production systems problems, evaluate programs, set priorities and objectives and determine time schedule for development and implementation. · Maintains State and Federal property ledgers for all computer equipment, conducting an annual inventory of these properties and ensuring state decals are attached as assigned by the Department of Health. · Performs related work as required. · Recommends priorities for systems development. · This position is on call in accordance with applicable rules. · Incumbent may have to perform essential services related to systems during periods of disaster or other emergency conditions.
· A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or · A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and three years of experience as described above; or · A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and two years of experience as described above; or · A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and one year of experience as described above; or · Five years of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming (excluding micro/personal computers) and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding computer operations and data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems. · Experience in computer systems analysis can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. · Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required computer systems analysis and/or computer programming experience. • Four (4) years experience in systems programming, networking, and telecommunications.
